For four high-school seniors, their goals of perfection are just as different as the paths they take to get there.
Cara’s parents’ unrealistic expectations have already sent her twin brother Conner spiraling toward suicide. For her, perfect means rejecting their ideals to take a chance on a new kind of love. Kendra covets the perfect face and body—no matter what surgeries and drugs she needs to get there. To score his perfect home run—on the field and off—Sean will sacrifice more than he can ever win back. And Andre realizes to follow his heart and achieve his perfect performance, he’ll be living a life his ancestors would never understand.
Everyone wants to be perfect, but when perfection loses its meaning, how far will you go? What would you give up to be perfect?
A riveting and startling companion to the bestselling Impulse, Ellen Hopkins's Perfect exposes the harsh truths about what it takes to grow up and grow into our own skins, our own selves.Xandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10043372119398007199noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6133032444036434728.post-68457583108492955812011-05-18T00:00:00.000-07:002011-05-18T00:00:14.597-07:00Waiting on Wednesday

I've been seeing this book around and hearing amazing things about it. On Lily Sanderson’s eighteenth birthday she’ll become just a girl—still a mer girl, true, but signing the renunciation paperwork will ink Princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being human thing once and for all.

Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer-bond or not, she’s almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, Lily’s father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin to stay with her on land. What did Doe do to get herself exiled from Thalassinia and stuck in terraped form, when everyone knows how much she hates humans? And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily’s former crush, Brody?

The seafoam on the surf comes when a merboy from Lily’s past shows up. Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There’s a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her dreams?

Xandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10043372119398007199noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6133032444036434728.post-12988657834306039182011-04-26T19:08:00.000-07:002011-04-26T19:42:09.959-07:00Review: Wicked Lovely
Review: Wicked Lovely
Author: Melissa Marr
(Goodreads)Summary
Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.
Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning 21st century faery tale.

I heard many outstanding things about this book before I read it, and now i know why. The story line of this book is so much better than I thought it would be, being straight forward and focused, not losing the attention of the reader. This book has strong characters, suspense, a pinch of horror, and romance everything, in my opinion, that makes for a great book.

Being a Ya fiction lover, one of my favorite parts of these books are the love triangles. They are something I look forward to in most books I read. I am very pleased to say that this triangle of love did not turn out the way I expected.

Over all this book was a great read and I encourage you all to read it! :)
Just so you know I'm not an eighty year old woman in a wheelchair. I am actually a fourteen year old girl who loves to sing, pet cows and of course read YA fiction! I started this blog because I recently acquired Internet and because my friends blog and I thought it looked very fun.

I don't really know what is going to be on my blog so I'm just gonna go with the flow and write some reviews on some really nifty books I've recently read. I am super duper new to the blogging world, so your comments and advice are greatly appreciated.Xandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10043372119398007199noreply@blogger.com1
